The DIEM manages the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Information Engineering for Digital Medicine (class L8), active since the academic year 2022/23, and the Master’s Degree Program in Information Engineering for Digital Medicine (class LM32), operational since the academic year 2018/19. These programs aim to train undergraduate and graduate students with a solid scientific foundation, a broad contextual understanding, and adequate mastery of the technical and scientific methods and content of information engineering, focusing on the design of systems and applications in the field of digital medicine and life sciences.
DIEM’s educational offerings are completed by the Ph.D. program in Information Engineering. Additionally, DIEM leads a national interest Ph.D. program in Photovoltaics in collaboration with 23 Italian universities. DIEM also participates in the national interest Ph.D. program in Autonomous Systems. Of particular importance is DIEM’s involvement in the national interest Ph.D. program in Artificial Intelligence – Health and Life Sciences.
The project aims to enhance the educational offerings to train highly specialized researchers and professionals capable of driving and contributing to technological innovation and scientific research in information technologies for digital medicine. Initiatives to achieve this objective are structured along three main directions:
1. Strengthening the educational offering of DIEM’s Ph.D. program in Information Engineering in the field of digital medicine, through the following actions:
- Creating a specific curriculum dedicated to digital medicine.
- Involving high-profile international visiting professors in teaching activities.
- Introducing a mandatory international stay of at least six months at prestigious research centers abroad, with the opportunity to obtain the Doctor Europaeus title, in accordance with the European University Association’s guidelines.
2. Enhancing the Master’s Degree programs offered by DIEM, particularly the Master’s program (LM-32) in Information Engineering for Digital Medicine, through the following actions:
- Introducing excellence tracks for top-performing students, including advanced studies in digital medicine and the development of transversal skills (improving English language proficiency, participating in research and technological innovation projects, and developing entrepreneurial initiatives).
- Involving qualified experts from institutions and companies in the educational program.
- Offering curricular internships at prominent national and international companies and institutions, focusing on topics related to information technologies for digital medicine.
3.Launching specialization courses to deepen specific topics in information technologies applied to digital medicine, targeting both recent graduates and professionals already active in the field who wish to gain advanced specialization.
